Social Action SOCIAL ACTION (n) :
a social policy of reform (especially socioeconomic reform)
The Kappa Golf Association’s Guide Right Golf Program is a program that combines a junior golf program with academic mentoring and tutoring. To provide our youth participants with the tools that are necessary for them to define their vision, set their goals, and establish their principles and value systems. Our goal is to target young boys and girls from 7 to 17 from underrepresented socio-economic circumstances and motivate, inspire and empower their lives with purpose and direction. Our focus is to use the game of golf as a vehicle for educational training, and personal development. Furthermore to help disadvantaged youth bridge the academic and socio-economic gap and integrate into today’s larger American society. This can only be achieved through a cohesive and comprehensive partnership with public and private schools, community-based organizations, and corporate America. The strategic objective is to establish a national network of Kappa Golf Association Clubs that administer our Guide Right junior academic & golf clinics and furthermore, align this program with our overall Fraternal initiative and empowerment program. This program is designed to assist our youth in becoming productive and contributing citizens. Simply put, we want to put a golf club, a text book, values and purpose in each child’s hand and mind. Then watch them matriculate from grammar school to the board room. Our belief is that the game of golf provides life lessons that lead to self-discipline, self-reliance, self-esteem, academic achievement, goal setting all of which promotes positive character development. |
